These common core standards include a number of fantastic learning outcomes. I would use a Rubric to help me assess each outcome separately, and then assign a final grade. Take for example students working together to create a podcast discussing a literary piece, I would assess each individual student and how the level at which they were involved. I then would also assess the level of understanding the student demonstrated based on the conversation. Lastly I would grade how well a student articulated them selves. Different reading levels pose a challenge but in activities such as this the actual reading is less effected given that it is largely a discussion and an exercise in critical thinking and communication primarily.
